Sulu was walking toward the door just as quickly as I was. It never failed… money talked. When I put word out that I needed Noah and Zay’s whereabouts and a hitter to handle that business when I was done for a few stacks information came pouring in. Havana didn’t want me to pull the trigger? Cool. I wouldn’t, but you better believe it was going to be pulled.

“What is he doing here? We don’t need y’all being recognized. Both of y’all need to leave before this shit goes down,” Amos said, stepping in front of me to greet Sulu.

I walked through both of them and opened the door of the community center basketball court.

“You’re not thinking clearly,” Sulu mumbled, “You don’t move in public. I do that reckless shit. Don’t do this, Grim.”

I looked over at him and smiled. That was the truth. One of the main reasons why I was able to get away with as much as I had over the years was because I was smart and discreet about it. There was about fifteen guys on the court. A few I knew; most of them I didn’t. It didn’t matter. I wanted Noah to make sure he knew who was behind his pending death.

Amos was given the strict order of walking in to see what Noah looked like and was wearing, then he was supposed to return to his car and follow Noah and Zay when they left. As long as Amos didn’t get caught when it was all over I wouldn’t either because the deed would be done when I was out of sight.

“You need to leave,” I told Sulu, speeding up my steps. Zay had caught sight of me, and he was probably thinking about the last time we were in the same building. When I laid his ass out for bothering my girl. And now that I know he was trying to get her to give his abusive cousin a second chance when he deserved death for how he treated her that made me want to go at him all over again, “I’m going to knock him and his cousin out. You don’t need to be involved in this. You just got out of a situation.”

“You know I’m not leaving you,” Sulu reminded me.

I stood in front of him and stopped him from walking.

“Go, Sulu. I’m not playing with you.”

He pushed me to the side and continued over to Noah. Zay was tapping him on his shoulder and pointing toward us. Noah started taking a few steps back to which I told him, “Don’t run. You’ll only make this harder.”

Sulu’s security started pushing those that were on the court back, making sure they weren’t recording what was going on. When I made my way in front of Noah I gave him a chance to look in my face. Into my eyes. To memorize how I looked. To see into my soul and find Havana there. He opened his mouth, but I used my fist to close it.
